# 2023 FAI e-Drone Racing Cup

The **eDrone Racing Cup** is a new, **online FAI e-drone race**, which is part of the [**FAI World Drone Racing Championships (WDRC)**](https://www.fai.org/wdrc2023). The final stage is part of the FAI World Drone Racing Championships (WDRC) in Namwon City, Republic of Korea from 6th to 9th October 2023.

- The competition is **open to everyone**
- It is **free to enter**
- There is a **cash prize and FAI diplomas for winners**
- **Registration opens on 21 August 2023**
- The qualification period is scheduled between 1-24 September

This very first 2023 FAI e-Drone Racing Cup will use a simulation of the 2023 FAI WDRC track, so newcomers can experience the thrill of a real race against pilots from around the world.

## How to enter

- The pilot will require an [EreaDrone 2023 Steam Key](https://ereadrone.com/fai) and - register for the event.
- Registration period: 21 August to 24 September.
- **Get a [25% discount on the EreaDrone Steam Key](https://ereadrone.com/fai) between 18 August - 21 September**
- A Windows computer and either a radio controller (e.g., Taranis- Radiomaster, etc.) or a game controller (e.g., Xbox Controller) - necessary.
- There is no entry cost for participating in the event
- Cash prizes and FAI diplomas will be awarded to winning pilots.

## Format of the event


### Qualification stage

The qualification stage ranking will be done considering the fastest time to **complete 3 (three) consecutive laps**.

**12 attempts** maximum to register times on three consecutive laps for every pilot.

The attempts may be done whenever during the qualification period, on the same day or on different days, and at any time of each day.

**Qualification period**: Friday 1st September 00:00 GMT time to Sunday 24th September 24:00 GMT time.

### Elimination round

After the qualification stage, an elimination round will be run with the **64 best placed pilots and 8 pilots per race**.

The 4 best placed pilots in each race of the elimination round will be qualified for the final stage (32 pilots qualified).

The elimination round will be run on **Saturday 30th September at 12:00 GMT time**.

### Final stage

The final stage will be run during the 2023 FAI World Drone Racing Championship (WDRC) with **successive rounds (1/8th finals, 1/4 finals, semi-finals and final) and 4 pilots per race**.

The 2 best placed pilots in each race will be qualified for the next round.

Provisional schedule for the final stage:
- 1/8th finals races on Friday 6th October beginning afternoon Namwon time (after the WDRC model processing and the official practice flights).
- 1/4 finals, semi-finals and final races on Saturday 7th October beginning morning Namwon time (before the WDRC first qualifying round)
